AIADMK leader and famous Tamil actor S S Chandran died of heart attack in Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district on Friday night, party officials said on Saturday.

Oct 9 (FLS): Popularly known as ‘Nagaichuvai Selvar’ by peers and fans, popular comedian and AIADMK deputy propaganda Secretary SS Chandran passed away late night. Doctors have reported that cardiac arrest last night was the main reason for his death.

As per report of the sources, Chandran while attending party meeting on Friday night at Idumbavanam near Muthupet had heavy chest pain.
Following the chest pain the actor was admitted to the private hospital last night.
A close source in the AIDMK who was present at the spot told that the active speaker of the main opposition party of Tamil Nadu was returning to Mannarkudi after delivering a speech at the public meeting at Idumbavanam.

According to party officials, Chandran complained of chest pain in the night and was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

His body was brought here on Saturday.

Chandran, who had acted in more than 700 films, had also been a Rajya Sabha member.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.

AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa has termed the loss of Chandran as irreparable.

She said Chandran propagated the party's policies as well as ruling DMK's misdeeds in simple language that could be understood by commoners.
