Gardaí in Dublin are today investigating the theft of drugs used to treat heart attacks from the Mater Hospital.

The drugs, used to revive patients suffering cardiac arrest, were taken during a burglary either yesterday or today.

The drugs were contained in five clear vials, two are labelled 'Atropine' and three 'Lidocaine'.

There is a serious risk if these drugs are injected by any person not suffering from the cardiac condition for which they are intended.
