United Arab Emirates ban on Blackberry to balance Security and Privacy

UAE to shut down mobile services on Black berry like email and text messaging
Research in Motion (RIM) said here Monday that it would not compromise on security and privacy of its smart phones.

Communication network companies ensure that their customer messages are shielded from prying eyes.
TRA The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the UAE put a ban on BlackBerry e-mail, messaging and Web services from Oct 11 as RIM smart phones send users' data to its centres overseas. Saudi Arabi also put the ban.
BlackBerry has over 500,000 subscribers in the UAE. Currently, BlackBerry operations in the UAE account for 3 percent of its global business.
