This is the craziest thing I have ever seen. The Chennai Municipality has enough other things to do to keep the city clean. May be the mayor thinks he needs to contribute his part when the Tamil conference is going to open in Coimbatore this week. The law only stipulates that the name boards of establishments must be written in Tamil. But we saw banners with English advertisements being torn and removed by the municipal employees. Its pathetic. They do not even know the difference between the name board of an establishment and an adveryising banner. Is there any rule prevailing in TN that all advertisements must be in Tamil ?? In that case how the municipality collected tax on the huge English hoardings kept on prominent roads ?? it is high time that someone goes to court and claim compensation from the municipality for its atrocity.
