Lenovo Thinkpad X220 Tablet Review | Price | Specs | 24 hours battery backup
The recently launched Lenovo ThinkPad X220 is a business-class laptop with a 12.5 inch display and a starting price of $899. But what really sets the laptop apart from the competition is Lenovo’s claim that you can get up to 24 hours of run time with the optimal battery configuration.
The laptop offers up to 24 hours of running time with an external battery.
The folks at Laptop Magazine got a chance to put that claim to the test while reviewing the laptop, and while they didn’t quite make it to 24 hours, they did manage to squeeze more than 20 hours of run time out of the laptop which is pretty impressive.
There’s a catch though: In order to get that kind of battery life you’re going to need to buy a 9 cell battery and an optional “battery slice” which attaches to the bottom of the computer and adds about 1.8 pounds of weight to the 3 pound laptop. The external battery pack also adds $179 to the price of the ThinkPad X220.
The good news is that even with a standard 6 cell battery, Laptop Magazine got nearly 8 hours of run time out of the laptop, and a 9 cell battery without the external battery pack provided more than 12.5 hours of juice.
The Lenovo X220 laptop and tablet are scheduled to be available in April. Prices will start at $899 and $1,199, respectively.
