Suzuki, Japanese auto major and parent company of Maruti India, sells Suzuki Kizashi in the US and Japanese market and the response is overwhelming at there. The mid-size car, Maruti Kizashi, was showcased for the first time at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show than at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. In addition to this, the concept third Kizashi was introduced at the 2008 New York auto show. After showcasing the Maruti Kizashi at different Auto Shows across the world, it was launched commercially in Japan and the US in October 2009 and December 2009 respectively. The company also displayed the production model of the car at the biggest Auto Expo - Delhi Auto Expo 2010. This was a quick hint of launching the Maruti Kizashi in India too.

Maruti Kizashi is a sports sedan which is powered by a 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series engine. The D-segment car's powertrain is capable of producing peak power of 178 PS at 6,500rpm. The maximum torque from the engine is 230Nm at 4,000rpm in both type of transmission. Maruti Kizashi is available in Japan and the US standard with Front Wheel Drive and optional All Wheel Drive. The optional i-AWD system includes a driver-activated Front Wheel Drive mode in view to save petrol. It is equipped with 17 inch alloy wheel. The steering wheel has three spokes and electronically powered. The suspension system used is Macpherson strut and coil springs front and rear one would be multi-link type. Whereas all the wheels have disc brakes. Front brake is vented disc and rear solid disc.

The braking system is comprised of Electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Electric Stability Program (ESP) along with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS).

Maruti Kizashi is to compete with Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy in India. The recently launched Maruti Kizashi is reported a little shorter than Honda Accord and Toyota Carmy but wider than latter.

The four door mid size sedan, Maruti Kizashi, is blessed with the same sporty and athletic looks as available in Japan. The seating capacity is 5 only including the driver. The front face of Maruti Kizashi is broad and bold with bigger upper grille, headlight and foglights. The upper and lower grille is having 'U' shape cluster which is also something unique to Suzuki.

Maruti Kizashi, the flagship model of the Suzuki, has been loaded with a 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series engine with 4 cylinder 16 valves DOHC. The 2393cc engine is capable enough to produce 178 PS of peak power @ 6,500rpm. While it churns 230Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. Maruti Kizashi boasts of direct ignition system (DIS) for powerful sparks directly to the plugs which results in ultimate fuel efficiency and less emissions. With the help of this and other engine technologies, the car gives 12.53 Kmpl (CVT) and 12.45 Kmpl (6-speed MT). The maximum fuel tank capacity of the car is 63 litre.

Power

The all new Maruti Kizashi is likely to be fitted with 2.4 litre DOHC J–Series, 4 cylinder 16 valves, DHOC petrol engine with both six-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), powertrain has same output with top torque delievery being 230 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The power and torque figures are much impressive as against other sedans in the segment. The engine is designed to house DOHC system that allows more comfortable breathing of the engine thereby the mill becomes more fuel efficient and powerful. The optional Continuously Variable Tranmission and all wheel drive variant is far better than manual transmission.
