Samuthirakani's role as a cool investigative cop in Easan has been receiving a lot of critical acclaim.
From villain in Sasikumar's Subramaniapuram to playing a parallel hero in Easan, Samuthirakani showed that he could do any role with ease.

Now the actor is doing his second film in Malayalam titled Veendum Kannur, after the town in North Malabar, which has seen a lot of bloody feuds between the CPI (M) and RSS.
The Tamil actor director is playing an important role in this Haridas Keshavan directed film, a sequel to yesteryear political action thriller Kannur.
Samuthirakanni along with Tamil actor Bala who is now a big star in Malayalam is currently shooting for Veendu Kannur which is progressing in the northern parts of Kerala.
